Thousands of Years ago, the land of Parahyangan was rule by a king and a queen who has only a princess. The princess name is Dayang Sumbi. She is very beautiful and inteligent, but its a little pity that she also very pampered. One day while she was weaving at terrace of the palace, Dayang Sumbi felt weak and faint. So she dropped the sewing spun to the floor for continuosly . When her sewing spun had dropped for so many times, Dayang Sumbi was angry
so she vowed, herself will married to anybody who wanted to pick the sewing spun of her. Just after she finished her vow, there is a sacred hound which called Tumang coming and given back her sewing spun right to arm of the Dayang Sumbi. So eager or not, as her vowed before, Dayang Sumbi must married to the Hound.

Dayang Sumbi and Tumang had life happily so they were blessed a son with human shape but possessed sacred power from his father. the name of this son is Sangkuriang. In his growing moment, Sangkuriang was used to accompany and playing with an hound which its
name is Tumang where he acknowledged as a loyal hound, not as his father. Finally Sangkuriang became a brave and handsome man.

One day Dayang Sumbi order her son and with the hound to go for hunting the deer for the need of banquet. After sometimes without any prey, Sangkuriang felt despair, but he didn’t want to let her mother down. Thereupon desperately he picked an arrow and point it onto Tumang. As his arrival to home, he presented a flesh of Tumang for he mom. Dayang Sumbi thought it was flesh of deer, and felt happy on behalf of the successful of her son.

Soon after the banquet over, Dayang Sumbi remind Tumang and question to her son where Tumang was. Sangkuriang was nervours at first, but at last he told to his mother what was happening. Dayang Sumbi was very angry and in her fury she hit exactly forehead of Sangkuriang
till unconscious. On behalf of what she had one, Dayang Sumbi was outcasted from thekingdom by her father. Fortunaly Sangkuriang was save but the damage by her mother has left a wide scar on his forehed. On his mature, Sangkuriang had his journey to experienced
the world outside the kingdom.

Several years had pass, Sangkuriang met a very beautiful woman, soon he had falling in love to the woman. the woman was her mother himself, but they couldn’t recognize each other. Sangkuriang proposed married to the woman, Dayang Sumbi had happily accepted. a day before the wedding, when she caressed her fiance hair, Dayang Sumbi saw a wide scar on Sangkuriang’s forehead, finally she realize that she just almost married to her own son. Dayang Sumbi try
to ruin the wedding after know everything. After thinking so long she had decided to make a condition for the wedding which would be impossible to granted by Sangkuriang. The condition is: Sangkuriang had to build a dam which the size were able to cover the hills and a ark for tracing a long the dam. All must be done before dawn.

Sangkuriang had begun to build. His love to the woman was so great had given him a bizarre power. Never forgot, he used his power originally from his father also to call upon the spirits and helped him. with the mud and soil they block the water from the
river and fountain. A moment before dawn, Sangkuriang had cut down a huge tree to build an ark. The time Dayang Sumbi saw that Sangkuriang almost done his work, she prayed to the Gods for interfere her son’s work and hasten the morning.

A roster was crowing, the sun rising faster than usual and Sangkuriang had realize that he was fooled. In his fury he cursed Dayang Sumbi and kick the ark made by himself which is almost finish onto the middle of forest. The ark had been kick turn upside-down there and forming mountain of Tangkuban Perahu(an ark of upside-down). not far from the location can be seen the residue of the huge tree which is cut down by Sangkuriang has form a hill which is known as Bukit Tunggul(Tungguk Hills). The Dam which was made by Sangkuriang has cause all the hills covered with water and form a dam where Sangkuriang and Dayang Sumbi immersed themself and never been seen anymore till these days.
